Getting in the rhythm of cooking and caring for your body and mind through healthy food isn't just about having a good recipe. It's also about having a clean, inspiring kitchen (we'll get to that later) and some real skills that make the whole process more enjoyable and efficient.
I can still remember one of my boyfriend's old roommate cringing while I chopped an onion without turning my fingers under as she anticipated me loosing a fingertip. Fortunately, she taught me and then my boyfriend kept on me about the importance of having a proper grip when using a sharp knife. *side note: this roommate is also a foodie: Check out her fun blog here: http://amy-foodandbooze.blogspot.com/.
So please, before you do anything, watch this video by Gordon Ramsay (who I have a soft spot for). It teaches you how to hold whatever you're cutting properly, AND he shows how to chop an onion in the most efficient way that reduces potential crying-time.
Teach your friends and be safe in the kitchen! :)
If you're wonder what's making my kitchen more fun to cook in lately it's definitely my beautiful sunflowers in the northeast corner of my kitchen. Why the northeast corner of the kitchen? Why Vastu, the ancient precursor to Feng Shui, of course. Learn more about Vastu here: http://www.vastuliving.com/
Haha! Totally remember that! Missing you guys a lot. Dinner soon?
