Life of Kate : Yoga at Lowell High School & a Present

Yesterday I co-taught five yoga classes at the Lowell High School Stress-Free Fair Day. Each class had approximately 40 students of all grades and was 35 minutes. I had a total blast. The students’ faces as we did seated breathing with one hand on our chests and the other on our belly was of total tranquility and mindful inward looking—such fantastic things to experience within such an academically competitive school. So, as you can imagine, it was an incredibly rewarding experience. Just as I was set to leave at the end of the day, Adee, the wellness counselor at Lowell who put the day together, says to the other yoga teachers and me: “Oh, have you taken a bowl yet?” Behind Adee are the most beautiful bowls including the one you see above. As it turns out, Adee is a potter and made these for us to choose from as a thank you. What incredible sweetness it added to an already lovely day of teaching. Now the question remains: what to put in the bowl? Stay tuned…
